When We Have to Say Goodbye...

It is important to give yourself the time to heal from the painful decision you need to make, and/or from the grief of the loss of your beloved pet.  Sometimes it feels as though the pain will never end, but working through the grief, will help you to move toward a fuller life.

The process involves four steps:

1. Truly feel your grief, and give it a voice.

2. Commemorate your pet, either in a memorial, painting, poem, prayer, or whatever you feel will be helpful to you.

3. Find a special place in your heart for your beloved pet, and make room for new animals to come in.

4. Redirect and channel your new energy to loving another animal who needs love, which will contribute to your healthier life and wellbeing.

As we journey through Life, we not only celebrate the joyful experiences with our pets, but also the pain of losing them. As an educator, I draw parallels between the reciprocal relationship of educating and learning with the cycles of Life and death.

If you, or a loved one, have lost a pet or are having to make a difficult decision regarding euthanasia, please feel free to contact me.  I provide professional guidance in memorializing the unique impact your pet has made on your life.

Commemorating and celebrating your treasured memories will enable you to live your healthiest, most fulfilling life, and honor the paw prints left on your heart.
